INSTRUCTIONS

To-Do List:

  • Create call sheets for both exterior and interior assets

Week 13

I wasn't sure exactly how to breakdown my assets, so I did them in a rather inconvenient way. I made the mistake of merging my layers together so I went and redrew assets separately. It took too long for me to do anything, especially when I have to redraw my exterior scene.

I also worked on adding ambience to my interior set, though it didn't look too different from what I submitted for Project 2.

Week 14

I focused more on redrawing and refining my exterior set for this week, since I had made changes while developing the interior set and it affected the look from the exterior set. I also took the opportunity to change up some stuff that I didn't get to do in Project 1. It took more than ten hours to render the entire thing, but that was probably me working too slow since I was super tired.

Week 15

I fixed up the interior set according to Mr Kannan's feedback and it looked better than before.

Instead of wasting more hours, I decided to just crop out the assets from the interior and try to erase the flaws as much as I can. It took a while for me to figure out the best way to display the assets, but I eventually got it and had it done. The exterior was easier, since I did not make the mistake of merging my layers again.

FEEDBACK

Week 14

Don't need to spend so much time to draw out the pillars. Just crop them out and breakdown the details on it. For the interior set, adding darker shadows and break your snake statue with lines to make in more interesting, because currently it looks too flat.

REFLECTIONS

I would have said this is the easiest part of the module, but the truth is that I spent most of my time redoing the exterior scene, which already compromises a lot of hours. If I was actually satisfied with my Project 1 in the first place, I probably wouldn't have used up so much time here and get to work on Game Art instead. But with this, I finished up all my projects for Environment Design. Despite my reluctance towards environment design at the start, I actually had fun concepting and working on it. I think I just needed to get over the first stage of visualising the area, which I usually go blank on because I have no clue where to start. Well, with the existence of ChatGPT, I think it's easier to ideate my concepts and ideas and bring it to life.
