Week 1

Motion graphics is a graphic in movement. It is the combination of composition and animation.

Composition: Consists of graphics and typography
Animation: Focuses on rhythm and movement

There are a few steps to motion graphics:

Step 1: Prepare a script/story
Step 2: Create a storyboard to visualise the story
Step 3: Make the designs according to the storyboard
Step 4: Animate the final design

INSTRUCTIONS

To-Do List:

Arrange the items into groups and present it in an aesthetic yet easily understandable way.

In a face-to-face class, Miss Anis brought a box of buttons and legos for us to do our exercise.

I picked the buttons and arranged them according to a category I think they fit best. I ended with some mismatched buttons that do not belong to any group.

After sorting them out, I recorded the number of buttons and its characteristics.

List:

  • Large four-eyed black button (x4)
  • Large two-eyed grey button (x7)
  • Medium four-eyed marbled button (x5)
  • Medium thick-rimmed four-eyed black button (x6)
  • Small thin-rimmed four-eyed black button (x17)
  • Small four-eyed gold button (x7)
  • Miscellaneous button (x11)

Then, I arranged the buttons in an interesting yet understandable way.

After receiving some word of advice from Miss Anis, I proceed towards filling the details of my infographic.

FEEDBACK

6th January, Thursday

The arrangement is interesting, but keep in mind on how to label your categories in a way people can understand.

REFLECTIONS

The exercise gave a nice insight on what is to come for the rest of module. I am no stranger to categorizing items, but presenting the information as something easily interpreted is new to me. I quickly learned that information had to be presented not only visually appealing, but also intuitive enough for viewers to understand with limited context. I hope to learn more about categorizing and presenting information efficiently for the rest of the semester.
